Three Peaks Challenge Accepted

At 6.00am on Friday 15th May 2015, in memory of our friend and founder Dr Richard Guthrie, Andy Kitching (Managing Director) and 5 brave (or foolish) Guthrie Douglas colleagues set out to climb the 3 highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, within 24 hours.

22 hours later, with sore knees, unable to see each other and not speaking anymore, we started the ascent of Snowden in Wales, aiming to get down with the sunrise for a 6.00am finish.

Suffice to say, the expedition did not go to plan. The weather was not on our side but, we concluded that Richard was.

Richard loved nothing more than a good climb. We wanted to do him proud, and we know he was chuckling as the Welsh rain beat down on us in the middle of the night.

The challenge was in aid of Myton Hospices, a cancer charity which needs to raise £8 million each year to continue their good work. We were more than proud to hand over £7,273 raised in sponsorship.

Richard was cared for at the Myton Hospice, Warwick. We will forever be thankful for the outstanding and compassionate care Richard and our family received there.
