We’ve opened a Middle East office!

A new base in Dubai, with a team already at work.

Guthrie Douglas, a precision solar shading specialist with over 45 years in technical shading system design, has opened a dedicated Middle East office, based in Dubai. The move reflects sustained demand from architects, developers and construction professionals across the Gulf region for technically rigorous shading solutions across a full range of environments; from complex glazed facades to everyday commercial interiors.

The Dubai office will supply the complete spectrum of shading products, from roller blinds and curtains through to our bespoke tension systems, serving both high end architectural and commercial projects with the same attention to detail.

The office is led by Mohammed Nowwara as President and Tom Allies as Technical Manager. Between them they bring deep technical knowledge, an understanding of how projects move in this part of the world, and an instinct for what design teams need from a specialist at the right stage.

The team is already working on a number of live projects including The Sheikh Hamdan Cancer Hospital in the UAE is already underway and sets the tone: high specification, technically complex, and exactly the kind of brief we’re built to deliver on.

“We’re not arriving as a new name in the region,” says Mohammed Nowwara. “Our work has been here for years. The office just means we’re easier to reach, faster to respond, and closer to the conversations that matter at the right stage of a project.”

Tom Allies adds: “A lot of what we do is resolved in early dialogue with the design team. Being on the ground here changes that conversation completely. You can talk through possibilities on site, when it can still make a difference.”
