PROJECT & RESOURCE MANAGER (CONSTRUCTION / ENGINEERING)

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Head of Engineering

LOCATION: Flexible (Warwick HQ, frequent travel to London and occasional international travel).

OBJECTIVE: On time, on budget delivery of major projects from conception to completion.

PROJECT TYPES

  • Supply only contracts. Design, manufacture and supply of blind & control systems to the global construction market including contractors and sub-contractors. Current project examples include the new Google HQ in London, 8 Bishopsgate, One Sydney Harbour.
  • In-house engineering projects. For example, new product development & launch, design & build of test facilities, machine design and build, production line improvement projects.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Project management of:

  • Major projects from pre-contract signature through to site co-ordination and completion.
  • In-house engineering projects.

Co-ordinate in-house engineering and other resources to ensure successful project delivery.

MAIN DUTIES

  1. Project manage major projects from pre-contract signature through to completion, acting as the main point of contact for GD.
  2. Project manage in-house engineering projects and other special projects as required.
  3. Create, present and deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  4. Identify resources, assign responsibilities and coordinate delivery.
  5. Establish and coordinate internal communications processes to ensure that all relevant departments are kept informed and work together to ensure successful project delivery.
  6. Establish and coordinate a process for scheduling internal resources, including engineering resource to ensure that project and wider business requirements are met.
  7. Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects.
  8. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored and shared.
  9. Identify risks and plan ahead for successful delivery.
  10. Advise the Specification team on our delivery capabilities and collaborate with pitching team to win new projects.

SENIOR ENGINEER

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Engineering

LOCATION: Flexible (Warwick HQ, occasional national and international travel)

OBJECTIVE: To execute engineering work at a high level of competence, and constantly refine engineering processes and methods.

NATURE OF THE WORK

  • New product introduction
  • Electromechanical system design and development
  • Design for manufacture and design and build of manufacturing tools
  • Working with architectural and engineering drawings
  • Design of experiments and modelling system behaviour
  • Broad experience and understanding of a broad array of manufacturing techniques
  • Leading CNC and other production machinery programming and setting activity
  • Training and developing junior engineers

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining consistently high-quality output from the engineering department by leading concept generation and design activities, providing engineering support to all parts of the business.
  • Lead, manage and coach the engineering department.
  • Oversight of major projects
  • Leading manufacturing process and technology improvement activities
  • Defining, maintaining, and improving engineering and business processes in line with industry best practice.

MAIN DUTIES

  1. Launch feasibility studies for new project requests.
  2. Provide innovative and robust designs to new projects as well as new products to be mass-manufactured.
  3. Apply manufacturing engineering / design for manufacture expertise to creating efficient manufacturing methods and tools for existing and new products.
  4. Mentor, support, and train junior engineers.
  5. Maintain and improve internal engineering processes.
  6. Troubleshooting manufacturing, product performance, and installation issues.
  7. Design of experiments to evaluate and characterise component and system performance and behaviour.
  8. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored and shared.
  9. Identify risks and plan ahead for successful delivery.
  10. Advise the Specification team on our delivery capabilities and collaborate with pitching team to win new projects.
