Vital Energi Utilities Limited, needed to convert an open mezzanine into a productive workspace for an additional 50 desks. The challenge? Turning what was essentially a “dumb open space” into a comfortable, efficient office environment.
With this in mind, Charltons Curtains And Blinds Limited, highly recommended for this task, collaborated with Guthrie Douglas to provide a shading solution that would meet the client’s needs.
THE CHALLENGE
The space required shading that not only managed glare but also complemented the office’s aesthetic. The added complexity of high fixing points and the need to complete the work without disrupting the ongoing office activities called for a carefully considered solution. Safety was also paramount, with special access requirements due to the height.
THE SOLUTION
After exploring several options, Charltons, in partnership with Guthrie Douglas, selected the TESS™ 140 system. The 5% openness factor screen fabric offered the necessary anti-glare properties for the workspace below, while the grey shade was a perfect match for the office décor.
A full scaffold birdcage was erected to ensure safe access to the high fixing points, and the installation was completed over a weekend to avoid disrupting office operations. Additionally, Somfy RTS Motors powered the blinds, providing seamless remote control for ease of use by the team.
CONCLUSION
The installation successfully transformed the mezzanine into a functional and comfortable workspace. The client now enjoys a practical and efficient office environment, with the added benefit of a 5-year maintenance package ensuring long-term performance.
