Vida Hotel in Creek Harbour, Dubai offers locals and tourists alike a stunning space to relax, dine and sleep. It’s picturesque outdoor courtyard is protected from the intense sun by a innovative Guthrie Douglas shading solution, allowing alfresco dining with a remarkable view of the Dubai Skyline that stretches for miles.
THE CHALLENGE
It was crucial to the client that the courtyard would be effectively shielded from the intense sun and hotter temperatures that Dubai experiences.
The client chose Guthrie Douglas and its exclusive partners in the Middle East market, Hunter Douglas, to come up with a solution that would to meet its objectives of managing excessive heat and sunlight in the outdoor restaurant.
THE SOLUTION
Hunter Douglas Middle East delivered and installed a total of seven TESSTM 512 systems, which can cover up to 100m2 per system and is suspended on stainless steel cables to mitigate the need for any supporting columns.
Technical support was provided by Hunter Douglas Middle East throughout the project, from feasibility assessment and measuring up, to system installation.
Upon successful completion of the project, Vida Hotel could confidently open its courtyard doors to guests looking to enjoy the tropical climate and sprawling ocean views, whilst ensuring they would be comfortable and safe from the negative impact of excessive sun and heat exposure.
