Team Changes at Guthrie Douglas

Thanks to unprecedented growth, Guthrie Douglas are delighted to announce the arrival of ten new members of the team and one returning team member. We would also like to inform you of two departures and another current vacancy!

Farewells

Julian Harding and Iain Hill leave GD for careers in other industries after more than 10 and almost 15 years with the company respectively. We thank them both for their service and wish them well for the future.

New & Recent Additions

Sales
Daniel Taylor joins from August as Sales Manager. Daniel will be responsible for growing relationships with trade customers, with an initial focus on improving our customer service levels in the UK market. He has a strong background in technical sales and service management for both smaller scale projects and major contracts but on the down side is a huge Birmingham City fan!
Sangita Mistry joins as Marketing Manager. Sangita brings 20 years of marketing experience to GD and is a specialist in the promotion and marketing of building products. She will be focussed on developing the GD group brands and supporting our customers with their marketing plans. Sangita enjoys regular holidays, catching the latest Netflix series and a good old wordsearch!
Sandra Johnson re-joins GD as European Account Manager after spending the last 6 months in France with her family. Sandra is a tri-lingual civil engineer who will be supporting customers with their technical requirements and we are delighted to have her back in the team. We are looking forward to her joining GD’s future company challenges again where she has been in the midst of canyoning in the Brecon Beacons with her colleagues!

Engineering
Phil Jackson joins the Senior Management Team as Head of Engineering. Phil is a mechatronics engineer specialising in automation and robotics having spent the past few years managing a £10m R&D project at the Manufacturing Technology Centre. He will lead our engineering team including product development and technical support for customers. As well as accepting this new job he is currently moving house and expecting a new addition to the family in August, so please be kind to him!
Operations

Neil Wills joins the Senior Management Team as Head of Operations. Neil started his career on the shop floor and brings a wealth of experience in production management, logistics, stock control, team development, quality, health & safety, demand planning, procurement and team leadership. He will make it his mission to drive up quality and drive down lead times for our customers. When Neil isn’t working you can find him swinging his golf clubs down the golf range or playing football in a Sunday league.

Paula Newland joins GD as Senior Operations Manager, and brings over 30 years of experience in manufacturing, procurement and production planning. She will be developing closer partnerships with our suppliers and turning GD into a ‘smooth operator’ on behalf of our customers. In her spare time and with her heart of gold, Paula is a Persian cat rescuer!

Imogen Kelsey joins GD as Operations Administrator. Imogen has an LLB in Law with criminology from Sheffield Hallam University and has experience in a number of previous roles including legal administrator. She has recently moved into her first new home and is currently spending time redecorating!
Amy Atherton joins GD as Operations Coordinator. Amy has extensive experience of manufacturing operations including order processing, production processes, supplier management and logistics. Her recent experience includes management of BOMs and production scheduling, a manufacturer of military-grade connectors and cables for mission-critical land, sea, air and space applications. Amy is keen fitness enthusiast and is a regular at her local CrossFit gym.
Finance
Mark Ross joins the Senior Management Team as Head of Finance. Mark is an experienced Finance Director and dedicated Arsenal fan, with significant experience of growing international manufacturing businesses, most recently in the automotive sector.
Hanah Maradza joins GD as Finance Manager. She brings a breadth of experience in accounting and finance roles across the aerospace, automotive and manufacturing industries and holds an MBA from Oxford Brookes University as well as a Diploma in Accountancy from Bulawayo Polytechnic in Zimbabwe. Hanah is also a busy mum to three children under the age of 11 and if that wasn’t enough, she is also completing her ACCA studies in her spare time!
Lindsay Chapman joins GD as Finance Administrator. Lindsay has held varied roles within Finance Departments and brings a well-rounded approach to the Department. She enjoys attending the gym, spending time with her children especially around their dancing commitments and loves attending live music events!
These new additions to the GD team are a key part of the investment in our ambitious growth plans for the coming years and they are all very excited to get to know you, our customers and suppliers. Watch this space for more GD investment announcements very shortly!
